Project Scope
Rade were assigned to re-develop the Suffolk Chamber website and integrate member services with the existing Chamber back office system. The new website needed to bring together local chamber areas under one roof, while allowing them to maintain their own identity, with news, events and offers focused on each area as well as the chamber as a whole.
The primary goal of the project was to improve the usability and user experience by creating a dynamic, powerful, yet easy to navigate content managed website with a modern, clean, fresh style. The site needed to be engaging, informative and accessible, with responsive design. Additionally, it needed to deliver a range of online services to the chamber membership from a password protected portal.
Solution
Working closely with local design agency, Spring, who provided branding and design for the project, Rade developed a content managed website using a customised version of the open-source Umbraco content management system.
Umbraco was chosen for this project as it fulfilled a number of the key requirements of the brief. The admin area needed to be very straightforward, easy to use and be infinitely scalable to cope with the customisation and integration required.
Custom development work included the creation of a Member portal with a range of features for Chamber members. This includes hierarchal access that allows member companies to add multiple people from their own organisation and give them different privileges. This included features such as managing their company profile on the Chamber directory, and setting up their own events, news and offers. Also included is integration with the Chamber’s CRM system.
The result is a more dynamic site that provides visitors with a vast improvement in user experience, better news and events searches allowing filtering and enhanced functionality for Members. All this, whilst delivering a considerable time-saving in administration for the Chamber.
