"WE ARE DELIGHTED WITH OUR WEBSITE. RADE MADE THE PROCESS AS EASY AS POSSIBLE..."
CamdenBoss approached Rade to design and develop a custom website to act as the main sales catalogue for its range of electronic components and custom enclosures for use in electrical applications.
Rade were tasked with creating an innovative looking site that combined ease of use with great design and easy management.
Keeping the site up to date is an important element of the solution; a challenge as the product range is large and complex. Product information is held within a large Sage business management system and this necessitated some form of integration to ensure product data and other related information was transferred to the website routinely.
The website Rade developed combines an Umbraco content management system with a customised Ucommerce module. Ucommerce is the official Umbraco ecommerce platform, however, the project required the transactional elements to be removed, retaining the product catalogue and category system.
Further Umbraco custom development was carried out to create a sophisticated parametric filter system and intelligent search that displays a narrowing list of matching results as the keyword is typed.
Integration with the Sage system was achieved by writing a custom import routine that is set to run each hour. This imports the data output by Sage and marries it to images and PDF documents for each product, ensuring each product listing is up to date and includes the correct assets available for the web visitor to download.
A striking design brings the new site to life; with a clean and ordered layout. The custom product search tools ensure that users can easily locate products of interest.
For other sections of the site, more conventional content management tools provided by Umbraco allow CamdenBoss to manage the content themselves. Thus they can keep news, promotions and other information current, as well as expanding the content when new product ranges are launched.
