RTPI Awards success for Rade
4 Feb 2010
Suffolk web agency Rade is celebrating winning the E-Government category at the Royal Town Planning Institute annual awards ceremony which were held at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel on Thursday 4th February 2010.
Rade together with project partner Arup, submitted The London Brownfield Site Review which was commissioned by The London Development Agency (LDA) and The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and were awarded for making planning more accessible and efficient by the imaginative use of information technology.
The London Brownfield Site Review is aimed at developing practical solutions for bringing Brownfield land to market more effectively. The website provides user-friendly access to a database linked to mapping functionality which can be easily interrogated for analysis purposes, development tenders, planning applications and presentations. Working with 33 London local authorities, data on 2000+ sites has already been collected.
Edd Rowe, Senior Information and Research Officer at the London Borough of Lambeth said: “The London Brownfield Sites Database will be an invaluable tool for Local Authorities, developers and the public allowing them to keep track of available brownfield sites and what development constraints exist on them. Better monitoring of the brownfield sites available in London will greatly help efforts to maximise gains from regeneration throughout the city and the simple but effective map interface should become a standard for all public sector online mapping systems.”
